PDMLynx System Requirements

PDMLynx operates on a Client/Server model.  The server holds all the data files providing every user access to this common data repository.

Workstation Prerequisites
Microsoft Windows operating systems: NT4, 2000, XP, Server 2003,
Vista (in test). 

Server Prerequisites
Microsoft Windows operating systems: NT4, 2000, XP, Server 2003,
Vista (in test).

 

PDMLynx Security Policy
Document access security is realized through PDMLynx user access rights; individual workstation/server security policies and through the use of hidden shares to a common server.   Since PDMLynx launches applications on workstations with target documents existing on a common server, each workstation needs to have server access. 

PDMLynx does not control workstation/server security policies.  Though workstation access can be read-only for users with view-only PDMLynx rights, document editors must have read/write access.

Document retention security is realized through judicious server backup practices.  PDMLynx does not handle this function.
